Processing Sentential Stress and Information Structure in L1 Turkish and L2 English

In her study, Didem investigates how sentential stress and focus (broad and narrow) are processed by Turkish-speakers of English both in Turkish and in English. By using two sentence completion tasks and two eye-tracking experiments, her study aims to find out whether the immediately preverbal position in Turkish is associated with focus as discussed in the theoretical literature and whether Turkish-speakers of English experience any difficulties in processing focus structure at the syntax-discourse interface in their L2 English.
